About The University of Law

As the world’s leading professional law school, it goes without saying that we apply the highest possible educational standards to everything we do. But what really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that the current and future lawyers we teach should only ever learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context. The University of Law has eight centres in seven cities around the UK. All are close to thriving commercial centres, leading law firms and transport links. Each centre is a modern, well-equipped professional law school and provides a comfortable and stimulating learning environment.

All of our courses – from our undergraduate law degrees to our market-leading postgraduate courses and professional development programmes – are designed with a unique, varied and innovative learning approach that’s proven to deliver self-reliant lawyers who can compete in the fast-changing world of legal services. Legal training courses on offer vary at each centre - the Graduate Diploma in Law and LLM Legal Practice Course are available at all centres. The Bar Professional Training Course is available in London and Birmingham, and the full-time LLM in International Legal Practice in London and Manchester.

Our track record of excellence in learning and development has helped us establish worldwide connections with the legal services market. This is why many leading global law firms work exclusively with us to develop their people, and why legal employers of all types want to meet our students. It’s also why law schools and professional bodies around the world choose to enter into strategic alliances with us. The University of Law is an internationally recognised expert in the field of law. Rather than focusing on academic research, our aim is to be thought leaders in the issues that matter to the legal profession and the next generation of practising lawyers.

Accommodation

The University of Law does not own any accommodation itself, but we can help you find somewhere to stay. Once you’ve accepted a place with us, you can access our online accommodation databases which will help you to find one of our listed properties to rent. You'll also have access to the 'Housemate Finder' service on our ELITE student portal and our Housemate Hub group on Facebook - to help you fine a suitable housemate to share with.

Campus

The University of Law encourages a community feel at each of its centres, and so students will find a lively social scene at whichever one they attend. Each centre has its own social committee made up of students who organise nights out, balls and other events. Each centre also has lots of clubs and societies – these are all run by students and so the exact clubs and societies on offer vary depending on what students want – at present there is everything from rugby, football and netball to rock climbing, cooking, and book clubs, right through to yoga and wine tasting.

Centres often have links with local charities and support these through a range of fundraising activities throughout the year involving both staff and students. They also offer other activities for students to participate in which will help develop their CV, for example the Share Challenge (where students choose a ‘fantasy portfolio’ of shareholdings and monitor them over a period of months, the Business game (where students act as a board of directors to a fictional company and must try to increase the shareholder value), interviewing competitions, negotiation competitions, mooting competitions and mock trials.
