About College of International Education, Hong Kong Baptist University
The College of International Education (CIE), established in 2000, is a self-funded unit of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), offering full-time Associate Degree Programmes and Undergraduate Degree Programmes at both the HKBU Kowloon Tong and Shatin Shek Mun campuses. CIE, managed by the School of Continuing Education (SCE) which is one of the seven Faculties / Schools of HKBU, currently enrolls over 5,000 students and is committed to sustaining the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage.
Graduates of Year 12 can enroll in our Associate Degree Programme. Students from Macau, Taiwan and other overseas countries who have completed the IB, GCE, SAT or Ontario Secondary School Diploma are also eligible to apply. After completion of the Associate Degree Programme, students may choose to apply for the HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate programmes. In addition, CIE is in collaboration with 30 overseas universities. Students can apply for admission to the undergraduate studies at partnered universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Since its establishment in 2000, CIE has been growing both in quantity and quality. The number of Associate Degree Concentration Studies and HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes has increased drastically to meet the needs of the community. In terms of quality, CIE adopts the vigorous quality assurance mechanism of the University to ensure its programmes are of the highest academic standard.
At CIE, every student is unique and will excel when there is an opportunity. Not only are students encouraged to strive for academic excellence, but emphasis is also placed on experiential learning through an array of student development programmes ranging from internship programmes, cultural exchange programmes, advertising competitions, business plan competitions, music performances, to various sports events and college publications.
CIE's vision is, with the provision of caring staff and an exciting campus life, students are nurtured for holistic growth and encouraged to pursue continual quests beyond knowledge boundaries. While CIE's mission is to provide students with a learning environment through a specially designed curriculum which is based on the ethos of humanistic and holistic education, and to foster in them an intrinsic reverence and lifelong respect for learning beyond the boundaries of academic and professional domains.
