Sunway University Partners with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to Offer Medical Doctor Programme

The fast changes in the healthcare field are making people expect different things and ask for more. This is because they are more aware now of new health problems and differences between people’s health. Because of this, it's really important for the healthcare industry to keep getting better at research to solve these problems.
Sunway University is excited to tell you about its new partnership with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to start the Sunway University Medical Doctor program. They both really care about giving great service, so they want to work together to make training for medical doctors better in Malaysia. Expanding upon the shared commitment to service excellence, this public-private partnership aims to reimagine how medical doctor training can be materialised in Malaysia.

This collaboration will see Sunway University leveraging UKM's expertise and Sunway University’s innovative capacity to improve the Sunway University Medical Doctor program. The programme will feature a research-intensive and technology-driven curriculum aimed at developing future medical practitioners proficient in clinical care and health innovations to address health challenges holistically. They want to teach future doctors a lot about research and how to use new technology to help people stay healthy.
Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah, founder and chairman of Sunway Group said, “The establishment of the Sunway University’s Medical Doctor Programme demonstrates the power of public-private partnership to nurture a new generation of future-ready medical doctors who can transform the medical education landscape for Malaysia and the region.”
Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President of Sunway University echoed the sentiment, “We believe that the collaboration with UKM serves as a fantastic platform for us to build a new and innovative Medical Doctor Programme at Sunway University that nurtures the holistic development of future medical professionals that care for the people and the planet – saving lives and the planet.”

The Sunway University Medical Doctor programme is targeted to be launched during Sunway University’s upcoming September 2024 intake upon receiving all the necessary regulatory approvals.
