Entry Requirements
- A Level: Including passes at A2 in at least 2 subjects. Must include one subject in Maths or equivalent.
- BTEC: Extended Diploma (QCF) or Diploma (QCF) in a related subject. Must include distinctions in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
- International Baccalaureate: Diploma with 27 points including a minimum of 15 points at Higher Level and must include Maths and Physics at Higher Level
Note: We would normally expect you to have Grade C in GCSE English, Maths and either Physics of Double Science.
English Language Requirements:
- Overall IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in Writing and Speaking; minimum 5.5 in Reading and Listening (or recognised equivalent).
Curriculum
This course will prepare you for a range of technical and professional work within civil engineering. We’ve constructed it carefully through regular consultation with industry experts.
At the core of your degree, throughout which you’ll combine academic and practical learning, is the planning, design, construction and maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges and canals. We’ll also give you a firm grounding in structural engineering – the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads.
Other areas you’ll study include geotechnical engineering, the behaviour and stability of materials such as soil and rock and water engineering. This involves understanding how clean water reaches your house and how it moves in channels or rivers - essential knowledge for flood protection.
