About International Culinary Institute (ICI)

ICI aims at training and developing talent in culinary arts, wine and event management. It provides quality and professional programmes with state-of-the-art facilities to groom aspiring culinarians to be well versed in international cuisines, supporting students’ successful career development in the industry. ICI offers a wide range of quality professional culinary programmes covering cuisines of Europe, Mediterranean, Americas, Middle East and Asia as well as bakery and confectionery. It also provides wine and beverage business management programmes to groom aspiring youths for career development in the culinary, wine and hospitality industry. It also provides youngsters with diversified progression pathways leading to various professional qualifications.

Accommodation

There are two student dormitories and both offer shared accommodation. The Pok Fu Lam dormitory has 132 bed spaces and is situated on the south side of Hong Kong Island. The Tsing Yi dormitory has 880 bed spaces. The accommodation fee for 2020/21 academic year is HKD2,000 per month and residence period is from September to May of next year.

Programmes are conducted in training facilities of the International Culinary Institute, VTC Pokfulam Complex, VTC Kowloon Bay Complex and Tin Shui Wai Training Center.

Mission

ICI is part of the Vocational Training Council (VTC). Established in 1982, the VTC is the principal vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong and the region, with over 200,000 students studying across 13 member institutions.

Given the VTC’s strength in hospitality, ICI draws upon the resources and experience from within VTC – in particular from the Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI) and the highly acclaimed Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI).

Through the world of international cuisines, ICI aims to introduce graduates to opportunities for career entry or advancement as well as academic articulation while creating a pool of qualified talent to support the growth and sustainability of the hospitality and tourism sector in Asia’s World City and the region.
