Entry Requirements

  • Applicants for the BPsych(Hons) must meet minimum university entrance requirements and should have obtained a minimum ATAR of 85, as calculated from their scores in the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) or equivalent. Satisfactory achievement in TCE Science and/or Mathematics subjects is desirable, eg, BIO315109 Biology, MTM315109 Mathematics Methods or MTA315109 Mathematics Applied, CHM315109 Chemistry or PSC315109 Physical Sciences, and may be required for students wishing to take first year elective units in Science and Health Science.
  • Progression from Year 3 to Year 4 depends on academic merit. Students must attain an average of 75% or above across the eight core units at 200 and 300 level (6 units from the Psychology major at 200 and 300 level + 2 units at 200 level from the Behavioural Science major/minor sequence).
  • Students who fail to meet the standard for progression to Year 4 of the degree will be exited from the BPsych(Hons) to the BBehavSc and will be eligible to graduate with a BBehavSc and to apply for the BBehavSc(Hons).
