Entry Requirements

  • For direct admission into undergraduate courses offered by UNE you must have completed an educational qualification considered to be at least equivalent to completion of Year 12 in Australia.
  • You must meet the English language requirements for admission to UNE regardless of where or how you are studying.
  • Assumed knowledge is two unit Mathematics.
  • Recommended studies: Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Physics
  • For students without the recommended background knowledge, the School offers Foundation units in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Curriculum

This course provides an integrated approach to examining contemporary issues in health and disease. Students gain underpinning theoretical knowledge as well as practical laboratory experience in a range of discipline areas inlcuding anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology and molecular and cellular biology.

A multi-disciplinary approach is taken with an emphasis on the associations between structure and function. The course encourages the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills so that graduate can apply these skills to the rapidly evolving fields of biomedical research and clinical science.
